Leadership: Roy Cooper, Governor of NC
There’s community spread in North Carolina, just as there is in South Carolina — but North Carolina (in addition to having done over 26,000 tests and having another 8,000 being processed) knows it doesn’t have a handle on cases in the state as a whole.
So what’s its Governor doing? Talking — but doing relatively little? Waiting to see his medical infrastructure crash and his first responders become casualties before taking it seriously?
No — and no. North Carolina’s Governor, Roy Cooper, is making some big moves and boldly so. He calls it ‘The New Normal’ — and has already acknowledged that it’s not going to be either a simple thing or a short time one.
The Stay at Home order, one designed to flatten the curve and prevent the hospitals in his state from looking like the ones in New York, is an important call.
But not an easy one: there have been an unprecedented number of unemployment claims filed since.
Tough calls in tough times are what leaders are made of.
Bravo, Governor.
